IBS

What is Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS)?IBS

IBS is a functional disorder of the gut, which is diagnosed by a doctor according to certain criteria. Symptoms include bloating, swelling, gas and abdominal pain and these can be very distressing.

Although there is no known cause there are several contributory factors:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Erratic eating habits
  • Food intolerances
  • Treatment of IBS

Conventional treatment consists of alleviating the symptoms with prescribed drugs. This involves long term medication, with possible side effects and the ongoing costs of prescriptions which can be expensive.

Hypnotherapy offers a safe, natural alternative and is clinically proven.

This programme can help you to:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Relieve symptoms rather than using long term drugs
  • Promotes a sense of well-being often with a positive outlook
  • Helps to overcome any fears, worry, panic and disruption to life that IBS can cause
  • Helping you to cope better with life’s ups and downs
  • Its completely safe and is very effective
  • Non intrusive with no unpleasant side effects
  • Has been tried and tested for over 20 years treating IBS
  • Beneficial results from Clinical research
  • Can prevent the need for ongoing & long term medication (after review by their doctor) many clients reduce or stop the medications they were on before treatment
  • Can save money over the long term on medication costs
  • Results in only 5 sessions if the programme is followed.
  • Where can I get this specialised treatment?

Once you have a diagnosis from your Doctor contact me to arrange an initial consultation. The programme consists of 5 sessions over a three month period. This is a cost effective solution that enables patients to take back control of the symptoms of IBS. To optimise your holistic treatment we often recommend a food intolerance test and look at lifestyle factors and your diet. We monitor your progress with a symptom questionnaire at the beginning, middle and at the end of the three month programme.

Hypnotherapy is particularly effective alleviating stress and anxiety both are main contributory factors in IBS. Two major hospitals have conducted extensive clinical research on IBS (South Manchester University Hospital and Guys Hospital London), which has shown that it is the preferred method of treatment. Trials showed up to 80% success rate using hypnosis (90% of trial patients had failed with conventional methods of treatment using prescribed medication). We use the same type of gut specific (gut directed) hypnotherapy techniques tailored for you.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes it is completely safe. You cannot be made to do something against your will. Suitability for treatment is always assessed at the first session. You can ask questions so you feel comfortable with everything before we start. Most people find their sessions relaxing and a very pleasant experience.

Can I be hypnotised?

Everyone who is willing and able to follow simple instructions from a therapist can be hypnotised. A light hypnosis is very similar to being in a ‘day dream’. Most people achieve successful results using hypnosis, although this cannot be guaranteed.
